The Kalamata olive is a large, dark purple olive with a smooth, meaty texture, named after the city these olives are traditionally grown in; the city of Kalamata located in the southern Peloponnese, Greece.
Often used as table olives, they have a full juicy texture, rich full fruity flavors, and have a low acidity with a peppery aftertaste. Preserved in wine vinegar.
